Rearview Mirror - Celebrating successes from 2022
We have finally wrapped up 2022, and we are at the beginning of a new year with new plans, hopes, and goals. That said, it is always important to take a moment to look back on the past year and celebrate all the amazing achievements and successes that 2022 has brought us.
Here are some* of the amazing successes that occurred (and investments that were made) in 2022 that will contribute to our communities and regional economy for years to come.
Perry Township
Emsdale Community Centre and Library - News Article
“On March 16, 2022 the Emsdale Library was torn down in preparation for the project to begin. The project officially began on April 7, just 13 days before Parry Sound—Muskoka MPP Norm Miller announced $2 million in funding for the project from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund. The project’s estimated completion date is August 2023.”
Emsdale Airport Funding - News Article
“The Emsdale Airport Authority will receive $258,255 for repairs to the airport roof and facilities, and to purchase maintenance equipment.”
Armour Township
Industrial Park Natural Gas Funding, Basketball Facility and Ice Rink - News Article
“The Township of Armour will receive $1,531,500 [from NOHFC] for natural gas, electricity and telecommunication services, $148,000 to build a basketball facility and ice rink and $58,500 for renovations to the Katrine Community Centre.”
Burk’s Falls
Funding for Waterfront Upgrades - News Article
“The Village of Burk’s Falls will receive $124,424 [from NOHFC] to make upgrades and repairs to the community’s main boat launch, docks and waterfront walkway.”
Strong Township
Almaguin Outdoor Community Hub - News Article
“The Township of Strong will receive $500,000 [from NOHFC] to repurpose a vacant lot into a community hub.”
“Another $350,000 is coming from FedNor through its Canada Community Revitalization Fund and the municipality is adding the remaining $150,000. When complete, the hub will provide residents with a variety of events and activities that include yoga, fitness classes and a farmers market.”
South River
Northeastern Passenger Rail Stop at the Train Station - News Article
“Detailed design will focus on the route that includes 16 stops: Toronto (Union Station), Langstaff, Gormley, Washago, Gravenhurst, Bracebridge, Huntsville, South River, North Bay, Temagami, Temiskaming Shores, Englehart, Kirkland Lake (Swastika), Matheson, Timmins and Cochrane.”
