Day Trip for Wellness Advocates
Written in collaboration with Culinary Tourism Alliance for the Great Taste of Ontario Road Trip

The trickling creeks, lapping waves, chirping birds and soft sound of leaves rustling in the breeze can be found in many of the parks, retreats and wellness hot spots throughout Almaguin. Relax after a long day of work and replenish with many of our best kept secrets! Some of the many parks, such as White’s Farm Trail can be found on the Explore Almaguin website by browsing the map.

While visiting Kearney, take a stroll down White’s Farm Trail, located within the town site. This gem is a scenic, four-season, non-motorized, multi-use trail. The loop winds its way alongside a large wetland area, beside Sucker Creek, then curls through an open field and woodland. Don’t forget to stop by Pit Stop 518 where you can refuel, recharge and go! This fully licensed restaurant knows how to do BBQ right, and also offers accommodations in their authentic Mongolian yurts right on site!

Just north of Kearney, you can soothe your muscles with an appointment at Spa on Elm in Burk’s Falls. This spa offers everything from facials to pedicures. After this relaxing treatment, pick up a your picnic lunch at DiCasa Food Service, where you can find healthy options from fresh salads, sandwiches, and baked goods!

If you find yourself drawn west of Burk’s Falls, turn left off the south-entrance overpass to Burk’s Falls and follow Ferguson Road to a pre-booked appointment with Healing Woods for a massage or acupressure. Once your body is back in balance, don’t forget to pick up fresh baked goods at the Almaguin Maker's Market where you can stock up on fresh made donuts, pies and bread! if you feel like you need something with a little more protein, then you might want to turn left after the bridge onto Highway 520, and at the Burk's Falls Welcome Centre you will find Pulled Smokehouse, offering classic BBQ, slow-smoked and served quick, and enjoy overlooking the damn at the Magnetawan Reiver while here.

Further north along highway 11, you might find yourself in Sundridge, where Almaguin Massage offers 30-90 minute massages by a Registered Massage Therapist or a Hot Stone Massage that will put you in the mood for a treat from one of the local merchants like Zak’s. Zak’s mission is to offer products and services to encourage a healthy lifestyle, and joyful living. If you’re looking for a place to grab a bite to eat. On the other side of Lake Bernard, if you’re inclined to extend your stay, Northridge Inn may have accommodations to fit your mood, where you can find striking dishes from their ever-changing menu.

Trips down highway 124 just west of Sundridge will be greeted by Quiet Bay Inn & Café where you can also stay at the Inn if you decide to spend some more time exploring the great tastes in Almaguin. This Inn offers a peaceful lakeside getaway with comforts of home and gourmet meals offered in vegan, vegetarian, keto, and gluten-free options.

Any one of these great villages or towns will leave you feeling relaxed and replenished after a short day trip to southern Almaguin.
